36 Weeks..what a ride it's been!!!

Well, we've made it to 36 weeks today.  Yay.  A few weeks ago we weren't sure we would make it this far.  The last few weeks have been a whurl wind of excitment.

Here is the short version.

At 32 weeks I was put on bed rest for high blood pressure
At 34 weeks we started making what seemed like too many trips to the hospital for high BP only to be sent home again. After the fourth trip in they decided it was time to admit us.  My BP's wouldn't go below the 180-190/100's.  We spent a week in the hospital and I was given every combination of BP meds including two rounds of IV meds to try to get my pressures down.  Nothing was working so it was in to an ambulance and off to the High Risk unit at another hospital.  We ended up spening another week at that hospital where they were finally able to stabalize my pressures with what they called the highest dose of BP meds they had ever had to give.

We were finally released to go home on strict bed rest with the assumption of all 5 high risk doctors that we would be back in a week to deliver.

Well, I don't ever like to do things the normal way or the easy way and upon returning home my BP's have decided to drop to a really low rate (which they don't want since baby has gotten so used to the higher blood pressures). I have been taken off of one of the medications and had the other reduced twice.  The doctors are completely baffled, as am I.  They said they have never seen someone go from one extreme to the other in this direction.  They were sure with how much trouble they had getting me stable that I would for sure progress into preeclampsia shortly and deliver.

We had another ultrasound, nst and doctors visit yesterday and everything is looking awesome. Baby is measuring right on track at 6lbs 1/4oz (65%) has a great heartbeat and all looks good on the ultrasound.  So now, the doctors are saying they will let us go as far as 39 weeks at which point they will induce.  I was so worried about early delivery and now it looks like we will make it almost full term.  I am so happy he gets to cook in there a little while longer and develop his lungs more.  With my GD and the fact he's a boy I know every day helps in the lung department.

Have a Blessed day!

8 Months

We have made it to eight months.  Yay!!!

Other than that, not much to report.  Just rockin' the bed rest and counting each day as a blessing. The longer we can keep him in there the better.  I'm hoping long enough for his little lungs to develope nice and healthy and strong so we don't have to spend any time in the NICU and we can snuggle up all his sweet baby goodness from day one.

The monotoney of bed rest is broken up a bit by the twice weekly NST's and twice monthly doctors appointments and once monthly growth ultrasounds.  Needless to say, the doctors office is my home away from home these days.  I do love the gals though so it makes for a good time.

Have a blessed day,

Sarah

31 Weeks and you guessed it.....

permanent bed rest till Little Man arrives (hopefully sometime in September).

The bad news:
1) My blood pressure was 173/98 at yesterdays NST which is what prompted the bed rest.
2) I have to do another 24hr urine test.

The good news:
1) My cervix is still nice and long and closed
2) I'm not having any contractions
3) All of my tests have come back negative for Pre-clampsia so far
4) I work for the best boss/company in the world and they are allowing me to work from home on my laptop so I won't miss out on the next 6-9 weeks of work/pay.
5) Little Man is very active which makes me very happy and assures me he is doing ok in there
6) I have the most amazing network of friends/family. I love you all and appreciate you all so much.

In other news, I am feeling pretty good.  I'm more tired than I was in the second trimester but nothing to drastic and It is getting harder and harder to breath but I don't mind giving up my lung space since it means Little Man is growing.  We had an ultrasound on Wednesday and he is still measuring a week ahead but that has been par for the course since 6 weeks so nothing unusual.  He is estimated at 3lbs 13oz right now.  He was facing away from us so we didn't get any good pictures this time.  We go back at 35 weeks so hopefully he cooperates and we can get a good peak at those chubby litttle cheeks.

So, this is me, just sitting on my couch chillin for the next 6-9 weeks working on relaxing and growing this little guys so he's nice and heathly and strong when he makes his grand debut. We are so excited to meet him (in September).

30 weeks and bed rest...

30 WEEKS!!

Well, we've made it to the 30's, yay!!!  Unfortunatly, with onset of week 30 came the onset of high blood pressure.  I haven't been able to get my BP below 140/90 and it's been hovering more around the 160's over the lower 100's.  That means bedrest and a 24 hr urine test for me this weekend and another non-stress test on Monday morning.  Hopefully, we will know more after that.  I am hoping that they release me for work, I need to work 8 more weeks in order to afford maternity leave so fingers crossed bed rest does the trick.

Other than the high BP I am feeling pretty good.  Still have the pain for pubic seperation but since I've had it since about week 22 it has become more of a second thought than anything. I'm a little more tired than I was in the second trimester but still feeling pretty good. L moves around a lot with makes me feel good and reasures me he is doing well in there. He was moving around so much at yesterdays NST they had to keep moving the monitor to pick up his heartbeat.  It was nice and strong the whole time staying in the 150's range.

I'm so excited to meet this little guy but am hoping to meet him closer to the 40 week mark than the 30 week mark.  For now, it's lots of resting and Netflix LOL

29 Weeks!!!

How far along? 29 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Little Man is the size of a butternut squash! He is between 15-17 inches and weighs between 2.5-4 pounds!

Weight Gain? -10 lbs.

Stretch marks? A few that seem to come and go.

Belly button in or out? In

Sleep? Love it!!! At night it can be rough. Getting up 2 times a night to pee, but thankfully I can still fall back to sleep great.

Foods I am loving? Nothing special.

Foods I am hating? Meat, Onions

Best moment this week? Taking a day off with DH and spending it relaxing and feeling L kick and roll and move all over. The greatest feeling in the world.

Movement? Yes!

Symptoms? Heartburn, Burps, Boobs are getting more sore and sensitive. Bending over is not an easy task. Swelling, forgetfulness, restless legs, round ligament pain when I sneeze (OUCH!)...some rib pain.

Gender? A handsome little Lawson!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Our shower at the end of the month. Finishing his nursery wall murals and continuing to get his nursery ready for him.

Milestone: Last week in the "20's"!!

Emotions: Getting crankier  LOL

Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

28 Weeks!! Third Trimester Baby!!!!

How far along? 28 Weeks!! Third Trimester!!! WOW!!!

Baby's size? Little Man is over 2 lbs and 15 inches. Whoa, baby! :)

Weight Gain? -12 lbs.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Belly button in or out? More shallow

Sleep? Same Hubby bought me a nice mattress pad and set up some blankets on my side of the bed to try to help. He is so sweet. I had to spend a day at home this week because my hips hurt so bad I couldn’t walk. They seem to be better with the new bed set up but it still hurts in the middle of the night and in the morning when I have to get up to pee.

Foods I am loving? Foods I would be loving if I could eat them. Ice Cream please and Chocolate. But since I can’t have those right now I’m not really loving anything in particular.

Foods I am hating? Meat.

Best moment this week? Making it to the third trimester

Movement? Yes!

Symptoms? Sore boobs, heartburn (Tums? Yes please!!), sore hips, sore pubic bone, frequent urination.

Gender? A handsome little Lawson!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Finishing up the nursery, our hospital tour in two weeks, another ultrasound and starting pre-natal classes in a few weeks.

Milestone: 3rd trimester!!

Emotions: Pretty even keel except for the occasional bout of shear excitement that I am pregnant ;)

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Happy Fourth!!! Sarah

Nursery Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek at Lawsons nursery.  We decided to go with owls and turtles but couldn't resist this chubby little bird so he has snuck his way onto the wall mural and a little bit of the crib skirt.  The main theme is turtles but the wall mural and crib blanket will have owls as well. I will post more pictures after it's all put together.

27 Weeks!!! And a new picture :)

How far along? 27 Weeks!! Some books say this is the first week of the 3rd trimester. Some say it's next week. If I go by the doctors due date, I am 27 weeks on Friday. If I go by my due date, I am 28 weeks on Monday. Either way, we are almost to the third trimester 

Baby's size? Little Man should be about 13-14 1/2 inches and 1.5-2 lbs. However, we had an ultrasound yesterday and he is weighing in at a whopping 2.6lbs  Big boy, but love those chubby cheeks.

Weight Gain? -12

Stretch marks? Nope.

Belly button in or out? In. I think it’s going to hang out in there for the long haul.

Sleep? Same, I did sleep in a bed that had a mattress pad over the weekend though and it was heaven so I will be investing in one of those very soon.

Foods I am loving? Nothing in particular at this point.

Foods I am hating? Meat. Which is weird because most people crave meat when their pregnant with boys. My husband says it’s because I’m so stubborn LOL

Best moment this week? Seeing him on the ultrasound!!!

Movement? Yes! Are you kidding me? This kid is a mover and a shaker and I LOVE every minute of it!!! I definitely want to meet him in September and hold him in my arms but I could be pregnant forever and love it, feeling his little kicks and movements. It brings a smile to my face every time.

Symptoms? Same.

Gender? All Boy!!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Another ultrasound on July 20th and my baby shower on July 31st.

Emotions: Pretty mellow lately. Other than the occasional irritation with stupid drivers but that was there before I was pregnant 

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Friday, June 10, 2011

How far along? 25 Weeks!! Only 15 weeks to go!

Baby's size? Little Man is the size of an eggplant! About 13-14 1/2 inches and 1.5-2 lbs.

Weight Gain? -10
Maternity clothes? Yes, and I LOVE them.

Stretch marks? A few but nothing new

Belly button in or out? In. I don't think it will ever get to be an outtie but that's fine.

Sleep? Could be better if my hips didn't hurt so much and it didn't hurt to roll over and I didn't have to get up multiple times a night to pee. Other than that, sleep is great :)  But I'm not complaining. I'll take it.

Foods I am loving? Nothing special
Foods I am hating? Meat

Best moment this week? My birthday weekend and Little L moving a lot for DH.

Movement? Definitely!!  We have a mover on our hands and I love it.

Symptoms? Sore hips/pubic bone, heartburn, sore boobs, tired at night, emotional.

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant.

What I'm looking forward to? Continuing to work on the nursery (I'll post pics when it's all done), registering this weekend.
Emotions: Still getting irritated more easily than usual but not to bad.

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture

Birthday Weekend and 24 Weeks!

24 weeks and a few days late ;)  Not much to update things are still moving along smoothly and Little L is moving all over the place making my stomach jump and roll all over. I could sit and stare at it all day.

In other news, this weekend was my birthday and my DH took me to the coast for a three day getaway. It was absolutely amazing and just what we needed.

Friday we slept in and then headed out, we stopped on the way at a popular casino that has the best buffett.  Yummy yummy. We didn't gamble for very long because I didn't want to be around the smoke but I did win $130 on a machine before we got back on the road. :)  We arrived at the condo we were staying at for the weekend and it was so nice.  Two bedrooms, two bathrooms (both with large jacuzzi tubs) a living room, dining room and kitchen.  It was like our own little home away from home.

Saturday we slept in a little and then headed out to the local outlet mall. I had a blast shopping for Little L. He made a haul.  Heee heeeee heeee

After shopping we stopped at one of the famous Clam Chowder restaurants and had some yummy Slumgolion (sp?) and Halibut fish and chips. It was so delicious.

After lunch we headed to the local aquaruim. It was alot of fun and I had gotten a half off coupon on Groupon so that made it even better.  We bought Little L a baby stuffed turtle and a book about turtles. His nursery is going to be turtles and owls. (post on that later). This isn't a very good picture because of the flash but I wanted to get a picture of DH next to the crazy crab.  That is so not ok!!!  Good thing we don't live in Japan.  I would freak out if I saw one of these without 2 feet of tempered glass between us.

We went back to the condo to rest after the aquarium. My ankles were nice and huge after all that walking so I wanted to put them up for a while.  That evening we headed to the local casino since they have a nice non-smoking section and I could hang out in there while DH played some cards.  He has been wanting to go for a long time so it was nice he got to do something he wanted to do.

Sunday (my birthday) we got up early and headed for home.  We ate at a cute little breakfast joint then went into one of the local towns and did some window shopping and whale watching before leaving for home.

On the way home we stopped at some popular outlets and I of course had to buy Little L some more clothes :)  The deals were just too good to pass up.  All of the clothes above we got at 70% off :)

By the time we made it home we were exhausted and headed to bed early so we could be rested for the Monday morning work grind but the weekend was so worth it.  I have the best DH in the world and am so lucky he spoiles me the way he does.  Such a great birthday weekend.  And, Little L was nice and active all weekend which made it even better :)

Fun Facts Friday! 23 Weeks!!

How far along? 23 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Little Man is the length of a papaya. About 10.5-12.5 inches and one WHOLE POUND!! :)

Weight Gain? -10 lbs still.

Maternity clothes? Still the same...all maternity pants, some regular and some maternity tops.

Stretch marks? Some

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Same but the pelvic pain seems to be easing up a bit so that helps.

Foods I am loving? Bacon, Bean Burritos, Water

Foods I am hating? Meat
Best moment this week? I was laying with my stomach to DH's back one night (spooning) and in the morning he said that L was kicking and punching and rolling around for about 20 min and he could feel the whole thing on his back.  I slept through the whole thing. I was like a little father son moment.  I loved it and I think he did too.

Movement? Yes, more and more each week. He is definitely more active at night but I feel him throught the day too.

Symptoms? Sore boobs, tired, hungry, emotional. ;) I love every minute of it.

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Everything

Milestone: Almost to six months!! And seeing and feeling the baby!!

Emotions: Easily irritated. I try not to but some people have been getting on my nerves and I just have to walk away. Also, cry at the drop of a hat!

Baby, fetus at 23 weeks - BabyCenter

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Fun Facts Friday!! 22 Weeks!!!

How far along? 22 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Little Man is the length of a papaya. About 10.5-12.5 inches and one WHOLE POUND!! :)

Weight Gain? -10 lbs still. I swear I’m eating three whole meals and two snacks a day but he lbs just don’t want to come on. I’m sure they will catch up to be in the end.

Maternity clothes? Still the same...all maternity pants, some regular and some maternity tops.

Stretch marks? Some

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Same but the pelvic pain seems to be easing up a bit so that helps.

Foods I am loving? Bacon, Bean Burritos, Water

Foods I am hating? Apparently, Onions (made me throw up the other night) and string cheese.

Best moment this week? DH feeling L move TWICE. Once he kicked/hit him so hard in the hand I thought he was going to break through LOL DH says he is giving him high fives. It’s adorable. He will put his hand on my tummy and when he kicks he says “Hi Five”. I love that man.

Movement? Yes, more and more each week. Plus, yesterday I could feel L stretching and touch his little foot/hand and push back on it. So cool.

Symptoms? Sore boobs, tired, hungry, emotional. ;) I love every minute of it.

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Working on his room and feeling him more and more! We have the crib and DH parents are buying the dresser so now we need to get in gear and clean the nursery so we can start decorating.

Weekly Wisdom: Ridiculous advice will start coming your way especially around the 20 week mark. Just smile and realize it's a great thing to joke about with your husband later in the day. :)

Milestone: Almost to six months!! And seeing and feeling the baby!!

Emotions: Easily irritated. I try not to but some people have been getting on my nerves and I just have to walk away. Also, cry at the drop of a hat!

Fun Facts Friday!!! 21 Weeks!!!!!

How far along? 21 Weeks!! Over half way!!!

Baby's size? Little Man is the length of a banana or a carrot. 10.5 inches and 12.5 ounces...The Little Man grew about 4 inches this week!! And since his weight was ahead of this last week, I am sure he is weighing more than that this week.

Weight Gain? Down 8lbs. Gain a couple back after last week’s sickness

Maternity clothes? Regular tops, all my pants are maternity.

Stretch marks? Some

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Not bad while I’m sleeping but I started having pelvic pain a week ago so it hurts to turn over in bed and when I have to get up to pee. Sleeping with a pillow between my legs but that doesn’t seem to help much.

Foods I am loving? Not much of anything.

Foods I am hating? Meat. I told DH the other day I think L is going to be a vegetarian because most people who are pregnant with boys crave meat and I can’t stand it  He didn’t like that idea very much since he is definitely a steak and potatoes kind of guy.

Best moment this week? Spending the Weekend at my nephew’s first birthday and spending all day Sunday with my mom buying our crib and play yard, going to lunch, and getting pedicures.

Movement? Yes. But not nearly as often as I would like to be feeling at this point. I asked the OB about this and she told me it was normal and that L still has a lot of fluid to move around in and the bigger he gets the more I will feel him and the more frequent.

Symptoms? Sore breasts, tired, hip and pelvic pain, increased sense of smell.

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Getting the house cleaned so we can start decorating his room and feeling him more and more

Milestone: over half way there!

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well

Fun Facts Friday! 20 Weeks!!!

How far along? 20 Weeks!! Half way! How is that even possible? My mind is still looking at the positive HPT in shock. Half way!!!! We are so blessed.

Baby's size? Little Man is the size of a cantaloupe. 6.5 inches and 10.5 ounces...according to thebump.com. However, last week at our ultrasound he weighed 12 ounces.

Weight Gain? Down 12 lbs. This week’s bought with the flu bug did not help in the weight gain area.

Maternity clothes? Regular tops. All my pants are maternity and I love, love, love them.

Stretch marks? A few

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Not too bad but getting worse as my joints start to ache. The pillow between the leg seems to help but not entirely.

Foods I am loving? Not really any lately. Still like bacon but not as much as I used to. I’m craving chocolate covered sunflower seeds but I think that’s only because I can’t have them.

Foods I am hating? Meat

Best moment this week? Getting to see L on ultrasound again today and Hubby feeling L move this morning. It was only once and very light and quick but he felt him. The look on his face was priceless.

Movement? Yes. Up until two days ago it was all down really low but I am starting to feel L up by my belly button every once in a while now as well.

Symptoms? Sore boobs, frequent urination, muscle/joint aches, growing belly, irritable.

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Everything!!! More movement, stronger kicks, setting up the nursery.

Milestone: Being half way through until the baby comes!!

Put your hands in the air, wave em like you just don't care  :)

The U/S tech said it looked like he was giving us the "L" Loser sign LOL
Baby, fetus at 20 weeks - BabyCenter

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Fun Facts Friday! 19 Weeks!!!!

How far along? 19 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Little Man is the size of a mango. 6 inches and 8.5 ounces...baby gained about 2 ounces this week! Yay for soon to be baby fat. :)

Weight Gain? Still down 5lbs but L is growing great so that’s all that matters.

Maternity clothes? Yes please

Stretch marks? A few

Belly button in or out? Still in

Sleep? Sleep is much better now that I have my pillow to sleep with

Foods I am loving? Bacon still

Foods I am hating? Meat

Best moment this week? Finding out we are having a son

Movement? Yes. All day especially after I eat.

Symptoms? Movement, round ligament pain at night, sore breasts, growing belly

Gender? A LITTLE MAN!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Another ultrasound next Friday to get a look at L’s spine.

Weekly Wisdom: You can be 110% sure of the gender and be completely wrong. So just be prepared either way even if you are SOOOOO convinced of its gender.

Milestone: Finding out the gender!! This week the baby can hear us now and he is starting to recognize our voices and hear my heartbeat. This week we learned he is a HE. I feel like this week we both are finally fully aware of each other and that's pretty darn amazing if you ask me. :)

Emotions: CRAZY!! I’m having a SON!!!! It makes it so much more real to know that I am carrying a little man and he has a name and everything. He is our son, our little miracle.

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

IT'S A.................................

Before I begin our story from yesterday's anatomy ultrasound I ask that you please say some prayers for some people who are going through one of the hardest times of their life. See story HERE. They're son has been battling cancer and they have just been told there is nothing more than can do but wait for him to pass.  It is such a sad story and my heart breaks for them.

So, yesterday was a whirlwind day to say the least.  Our anatomy scan was not scheduled until 1:00 in the afternoon so I decided to work the beginning of the day to occupy my mind.  It was a good thing I did since my co-worker ended up stuck in Minneapolis and I had some critical items that had to be dealt with that morning.  Needless to say, I was happy to have something to keep my mind occupied.

I finally left work at 12:30 and headed for the doctors.  I completely underestimated the time it would take to get there and was in a panic when I realized I would be cutting it really close. Luckily, I happened to get behind a cop car that was driving just a weeee bit over the speed limit so I followed him and made it JUST in time :)

We were only there for a few minutes when the ultrasound tech, Jane, called us back.  I have to say that this is our fourth ultrasound and she has somehow been our tech for ALL of them. She is the sweetest woman and makes me feel so at ease and makes the whole experience so enjoyable for hubby and me.  We got back into the room and settled in and she asks us if we want to find out the gender.  We of course say YES in unison.  I figured she would do the anatomy scan and if there was time left she would look to see if we could find the gender.  NOPE, she dove right in and that was the first thing she looked for.  It took about two seconds and this is what she said...................

"Yep, that is definitely a penis"

IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Here are some pictures of our little miracle who we are already soooo in love with.

Lawson M Masten

Lawson's feet.  He wouldn't uncross them ;)

Hand waving HI!!

Definitely a BOY!!!

The scan went really well and the tech said he is growing right on track and everything looks healthy and in all the right places.  It was music to our ears.  We do have to go back next Friday for another scan to get a picture of the spine since little guy wouldn't move once he snuggled up on his back.  I can't wait to see him again and hope that we get more good news from the scan.

After the ultrasound we went and picked up a bunch of things for our gender reveal party. I, for some reason, took exactly ZERO pictures.  I have no idea why.  But we bought a little tiny pair of socks for each of our mothers and put them in a box and had them open them at the same time.  It was perfect and everyone was so excited.

Let the shopping begin!!!  :)

Here are Lawson's first Thank You cards. Love them. I had a $20 off coupon and free shipping so it was a great deal :)

Have a great day,

Fun Facts Friday! 18 weeks!!!

How far along? 18 Weeks!! I still can’t believe it :) Almost half way there!

Baby's size? Bean is the size of a sweet potato! About 5 1/2 inches and 6 1/2 ounces. Mmmm Sweet Potato fries sound sooo good.

Weight Gain? Down 5lbs

Maternity clothes? Same but I need to get my maternity jeans hemmed so I can start wearing those.

Stretch marks? A few

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Some night are better than others. I'm usually getting up around 1-2 times a night to pee. Thankfully though I fall back to sleep pretty quickly.

Foods I am loving? Bacon 

Foods I am hating? Meat

Best moment this week? Feeling Bean moving every day usually after meals.

Movement? Absolutely. The greatest feeling in the world.

Symptoms? Forgetfulness, hip and back aches at night or if standing to long (i.e. spending too much time in the craft store walking around) 

Gender? WEDNESDAY!!! :)

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out Bean's gender!!!!

Milestone: 18 weeks pregnant!!

Emotions: Short fused, still cry at a lot of things and every once in a while when Bean moves a feeling of completely and utter happiness.

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Happy Friday,
Sarah

Fun Facts Friday - 17 Weeks!!!

I apologize I didn't post for 16 Weeks. Things have been a little crazy.  My Grandmother past away and I spent a week back home with family.  I know she is in a better place and she went peacefully in her sleep but we are still in a state of shock.  She was perfectly healthy. We will miss her so much.  Love you Grandma!!

How far along? 17 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Cupcake is the size of an onion! About 5 inches and 6 ounces. Baby gained an ounce and half this week!!

Weight Gain? Still down about 3lbs.

Maternity clothes? Still in regular clothes but loving my belly band.

Stretch marks? A few

Belly button in or out? Still in.

Sleep? Some night are better than others. I’ve been getting a lot of pain in my hips and toss and turn all night. Used a pillow between my knees last night and it seemed to help. Still getting up a couple times a night to pee.

Foods I am loving? Well, with the Gestational Diabetes I can’t eat much of anything I want to but Bacon is my best friend. I’m trying not to eat too much of it but I love, love, love it!!!

Foods I am hating? Meat!!!

Best moment this week? Getting to hear beans heartbeat again after a long week!!

Movement? Yes, about once a day now but still very light and only when I’m sitting really still. Bean did go crazy at my nieces softball tournament though for about three hours. I think because he/she can hear now and it was LOUD.

Symptoms? Boobs still a little sore, hungry but have to eat every two hours with the GD so that seems to keep it at bay for the most part. Lots of peeing.

Gender? 12 more days till we find out!!!!!

What I miss? What I miss is nothing in comparison to being pregnant. :)

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out Bean’s gender.

Weekly Wisdom: Always carry Kleenex. You never know what will make you cry at the drop of a hat. LOL

Milestone: Feeling Bean move and knowing it wasn’t indigestion. And of course being 17 weeks pregnant!!

Emotions: As long as I get enough sleep and eat every two-three hours at least something I am good. I cry at a lot of things though. Commercials even make me cry! :)

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out Bean's gender AND feeling more movement!!

Milestones: I am over a third of the way through! Wow that sounds so weird to say.

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an orange). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs.  Although her eyelids are still fusted shut, she can sense light.  If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam.  There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds.  Finally, if you have an unltrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position.  He or she may be modestly cureld up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")
